War In Afghanistan

I recently watched a documentary called Restrepo. It was an eye opening documentary that brought things forward that an average person would never think would happen in war stricken areas. I learned that with global conflict comes many little things that aren't seen unless experienced first hand. What this documentary did was explore and uncover what conflict does to an area inhabited by peaceful citizens. This particular conflict involves hand to hand combat in the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan. In one instance, the men shot a cow because it got tangled in the razorwire of one of the platoons nearby strongholds. The people of this area live off the land instead of getting their food handed to them. The locals demanded money from the soldiers, but their commander could not spare the money. Instead they offered to repay them with the weight of the cow in beans and rice. I would advise watching this movie If interested in what exactly happens in an enemy hot zone.
