Women in North Korea

In some areas of North Korea, women are not allowed to wear trousers or ride bikes. These issues may seem arbitrary, but to a Korean woman, a bike allows for transportation, which allows for employment. The fact that women are restricted from these rights is cause for alarm. According to the article below, basic rights that Americans don’t think twice about are being taken away from North Koreans and are making their survival increasingly more difficult.

Human rights is an issue for all North Koreans, but women face different hardships.

Often times, Korean women are left to care for their families. Because of difficulties such as these, women are often left with the only option of prostitution. A mother will do anything to feed her children, and unfortunately, in North Korea, some mothers must turn to such a living.

I think it is safe to say that these women are forced into prostitution. If the only way that one can keep her family alive and healthy is to make money in this way, then I believe it is necessary; a necessary evil to say the least.
